Aidan McKeon – Saxophones, Flute, Clarinet

Aidan McKeon is a multi-reedist and composer whose expressive range reflects a deep reverence for jazz tradition and a fearless curiosity for genre-breaking innovation. Originally from Sicklerville, NJ, Aidan is currently studying at The Juilliard School in New York City, where he is developing a voice that is at once grounded in history and unmistakably his own.
Aidan’s path into music began early — influenced by his grandfather, who played saxophone, and inspired by the piano in his childhood home. He picked up the alto sax in elementary school and never looked back. He honed his craft at The Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts in Philadelphia from 2016 to 2022, where he was deeply shaped by mentors like Mr. Lovett Hines, and also studied at the Conservatory of the Arts in Haddonfield, NJ.
As a player, Aidan channels the legacy of artists like Dexter Gordon, Wayne Shorter, Thelonious Monk, and John Coltrane, while also drawing influence from composers such as Gustav Mahler, Maurice Ravel, and Brazilian visionary Hermeto Pascoal. His sound is a living synthesis of these worlds — rich, honest, and deeply intentional.
Aidan is also an avid composer who writes music designed to reflect his unique identity while remaining open to interpretation by fellow musicians. He has performed with jazz luminaries including Kurt Rosenwinkel, Peter Bernstein, Ari Hoenig, and the Roy Hargrove Big Band, gaining insights that continue to shape his evolving artistry.
Now a member of The New Philly Sound 2025, Aidan sees this opportunity as a full-circle moment — returning to Philly with a new vision and sharing the stage with longtime peers. His goal is simple but powerful: to serve the music, the musicians, and the audience with unwavering commitment and excellence.
“Jazz is my hope for the world.”
