One guitarist at this upcoming jazz concert hails from the heart of war-torn Ukraine while a promising bassist just opened his own jazz club in New York City. Two other players just won scholarships from the Heart of Jazz foundation whose mission is to encourage the most promising young players.

All these young talents and more will be playing alongside legendary jazz pianist Orrin Evans and his high-flying collaborators at the Imani Records Club Patio Jazz Day 2024 at the Whitemarsh Valley Event Center in Fort Washington on Aug. 31.

Evans’ current bands will take the inside stage while the young bucks will hold forth outside in the light. Both groups will come together in a colossal jam starting at 4:30 p.m. See the future of jazz tangle with their mentors.
